The Salon d'Automne is delighted to welcome Yann Le Quellec as patron of this 121st edition.
Yann Le Quellec has directed several films, including Je sens le beat qui monte en moi (2012) and Cornélius, le meunier hurlant (2018), and written several graphic novels, including Love is in the air guitar (Delcourt, 2011) and Les amants d'Hérouville (Delcourt, 2021), both critical and commercial successes.
Yann Le Quellec is also a film producer, through the SOFICA Cinémage, which he co-founded. He has produced and co-produced over 600 films, including Intouchables, Le sens de la fête, Anatomie d'une chute, Le daim, Titane and Chambre 212.
Cinema is no longer an artistic discipline represented at the Salon d'Automne, but thanks to this sponsor we have the chance this year to re-establish a connection with this universe.
Yann Le Quellec will be sharing his experience as a film director and producer with artists and visitors to the show! We're looking forward to some rich and intense moments of sharing and discussion.
Jean-Christophe Lévêque
First of all, I'd like to thank Jean-Christophe Lévêque, President, and all the members of the Société du Salon d'Automne for this invitation.
I am honoured that cinema is associated with this event through my sponsorship. In fact, my production experience at the Cinémage financing company that I run (associated with the production of 600 films and series) has convinced me that the film industry inevitably benefits from remaining connected to all artistic practices and opening up to the most fertile imaginations, wherever they may come from.
In my work as a writer and director (three films and two graphic novels), I've made sure that I work with artists not only from film and theatre, but also from music, the fairground arts, dance and comics. I've found that these encounters between worlds and techniques are always stimulating and conducive to the emergence of unique works.
Yet opportunities for interdisciplinary encounters are rare. So I'm looking forward to exchanging ideas at the Salon d'Automne with artists representing different contemporary facets of painting, drawing, photography, digital art and sculpture.
Finally, I welcome the special attention paid by the Salon to emerging artists. Over 50% of the films I have supported in production over the last 20 years have been directed by first-time or second-time filmmakers. Cinémage, for example, supported Justine Triet in her first 4 films, right up to her Palme d'Or win at the Cannes Film Festival for Anatomie d'une chute. It's a pleasure to spot and follow a promising artist and see their talent unfold. Above all, it's a challenge that the Salon takes up with generosity, curiosity and sensitivity through its programming. This commitment is all the more precious given that, as the history of the Salon d'Automne shows, many of today's canonised artists got their start in the margins.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
